Ci sono fondamentalmente 4 modi per esprimere il tempo futuro in inglese ed ognuno ha un suo uso preferenziale:
- il Simple Future, il futuro con l’ausiliare ‘will‘ viene usato quando ci si offre di fare qualcosa (in futuro) o si è appena deciso di compiere un’azione e ci si appresta a farla; suggerisce un’azione volontaria e viene usato anche nelle promesse.
esempio: I’ll do it. - il futuro con ‘going to’ si usa quando si parla di qualcosa che sta per accadere (come ‘sta per piovere’) o per indicare qualcosa che accadrà perchè già deciso, pianificato da tempo. Suggerisce che si ha l’intenzione di fare qualcosa nel futuro (non importa se realistico o meno…)
esempio: What I’m going to do on my summer vacation. - il futuro con il Present Continuous si usa quando si parla di qualcosa che è già stata programmata e si farà in un futuro vicino (ad esempio stasera).
esempio: I’m visiting my parents this weekend. - il futuro con il Simple Present si usa negli orari dei mezzi pubblici, degli eventi pubblici…
esempio: Show starts at 8pm.
