Il Simple Past Tense è un tempo verbale molto usato in inglese.
La sua forma è sempre la stessa, non cambia con la 3° persona singolare come ad es. il Simple Present.
Si forma, per i verbi regolari, aggiungendo -ed alla forma base del verbo.
Le eccezioni sono:

• Verbi che terminano in -e
  aggiungere -ed
  esempi: live - lived; date - dated
• Verbi che terminano in consonante + y
  cambiare y in i, poi aggiungere -ed
  esempi: try - tried; cry - cried
• Verbi che terminano in 1 vocale + 1 consonante (esclusa -w o -y)
  si raddoppia la consonante e si aggiunge -ed
  esempi: unzip - unzipped; stop - stopped

Forma negativa del simple past tense

La forma negativa del Simple Past si forma aggiungendo didn't (informale) o did not (formale) prima del verbo.
Ad eccezione del verbo essere che si forma aggiungendo n't (informale) o not (formale) dopo was o were.

Forma interrogativa del simple past tense

La forma interrogativa del Simple Past si forma con did +soggetto + verbo.
Fa eccezione il verbo essere che si forma così: were + soggetto o was + soggetto (per la 3° singolare).
