La traduzione letterale è “un piede nella porta” e direi che rende molto bene l’idea, anche in italiano. Questa espressione viene usata nel senso di cominciare ad entrare in un luogo (sia in senso letterale che figurato) in maniera discreta per poi farsi strada dall’interno.
