Le frasi possono essere enfatizzate con alcune strutture che sottolineano gli elementi più importanti di una frase.
Si prenda ad esempio la frase:
John moved to Rome
Può essere enfatizzata in diversi modi ciascuno sottolineando un diverso elemento:
What John did was move to Rome
Where John moved to was Rome
Why John moved to Rome was because…
It was John who/that moved to Rome.
O può essere enfatizzata l’intera frase
What happened was that John moved to Rome
What happened was that John moved to Rome
What happened was that John moved to Rome
What surprises me was the fact that John moved to Rome
What interests me is why John moved to Rome
